Kinesio Taping Services

Kinesio taping is a technique utilizing an adhesive, elastic-based tape which allows an improved range of motion compared to traditional taping. It has increased wear time between applications and is being used globally due to its clinical benefits.

If you are interested in understanding if Kinesio Taping is right for you, discuss your symptoms with your doctor and request a physical therapy evaluation.

Other treatment approaches employed by our technicians include:

  • Gait Training: We use a variety of gait training devices. One enables a patient to stand upright on a treadmill while controlling their weight, balance, and posture. Another helps promote normal gait sequencing. It is especially useful in rehabilitating patients with limited lower body strength and trunk control.
  • Mobility: A specialized exercise bicycle is connected with a video gaming system to support physical activity. The system is also effective for motivating patients during recovery.
  • Movement Assistance : Motorized equipment and a software application enable for a patient’s arms and legs to move and loosen. It can be used in bed or on a wheelchair.

Sportsmetrics Certification

Heidi Johnston, DPT and Ashley Zimmerman, PTA

Sportsmetrics™ is the first ACL injury prevention program scientifically proven to help young athletes avoid non-contact ACL injuries and improve performance. A team of athletic trainers, physical therapists and researchers, under the direction of world-renown orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Frank Noyes, manages and certifies the Sportsmetrics™ programs. The Sportsmetrics™ program employs a number of drills to encourage proper form for jumping and landing during athletic participation. Jumping drills are used to teach the athlete to preposition the entire body safely when accelerating (jumping) or decelerating (landing). The selection and progression of these exercises are designed for neuromuscular retraining proceeding from simple jumping drills (to instill correct form) to multi-directional, single-foot hops and plyometrics with an emphasis on quick turnover. The Sportsmetrics program can be integrated into the post-injury return to play process.
